Highlights of the Zululand Diving & Wildlife Safari Tour

St Lucia

St Lucia lies on the St Lucia estuary, and is a haven of tranquillity that only unspoilt nature can provide. Entirely surrounded by the iSimangaliso Wetlands Park, (a UNESCO World Heritage site) the residents of little village are protective of their beautiful environment. Mountain biking, hiking, bird watching and deep-sea fishing present opportunities to enjoy the surroundings. From the town, you can catch the Santa Lucia ferry and take a trip around the lower reaches of the lake where you can view water birds, crocodiles and hippos wallowing in the shallows.

Sodwana Bay

Known for offering wonderful diving opportunities, Sodwana Bay is the only tropical dive site in South Africa and one of the few places in the world where dive sites are reached by weaving a path through breaking waves. Divers can enjoy warm water, deserted beaches, exciting coral reefs, a great diversity of seascapes and marine life and spectacular night dives. Also popular here is boating, snorkelling, fishing, nature walking and turtle spotting.

KwaZulu Natal

KwaZulu Natal offers miles of coastline with year round swiming, South Africa’s highest mountains, diverse game viewing oportunities, numerous top golf courses and a wealth of historical and cultural experiences.

Umhlanga

Just outside of Durban is the seaside resort town of Umhlanga Rocks. The tropical weather and lush vegetation make this an enticing holiday destination, attracting visitors from all over the world. It is the perfect location for ocean enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers alike, with great opportunities for diving, swimming, scuba diving, whale watching, dolphin viewing, deep sea fishing and kite boarding. Umhlanga Rocks also offers some excellent golf courses for the avid golfer.

Upon arriving at King Shaka International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by your driver guide and begin your journey to St Lucia, gateway to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. After checking in, depending on your time of arrival, you’ll embark on a sunset boat cruise on this wonderful estuary. As you glide over the waters, you’ll have the opportunity to observe hippos wallowing in the shallows and crocodiles basking on the riverbanks.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the Mseni Beach Lodge inside the Sodwana Bay National Park. On the way, your adventure will begin with a visit to the Emdoneni Cat Project. Here you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the conservation efforts for endangered species such as cheetahs, servals, and caracals.
Discover stunning Sodwana Bay, situated within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Embark on your diving adventure in this unspoiled UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its vibrant coral reefs, diverse marine life, and crystal-clear waters. One of the oldest Marine Protected Areas in Southern Africa, this unique  reef system was recognized early on as being incredibly diverse, and with an abundance of marine species not often found in such a small area. To give an example, the Great Barrier reef in Australia is 10 times larger in size and is home to over 1500 fish species, while Sodwana Bay is so much smaller yet it has an incredible 1200 fish species alone, not including other marine species.
A day of leisure to unwind and enjoy the serene surroundings at Mseni Beach Lodge. Whether you choose to relax by the pool, take a stroll along the pristine beach, or explore the lush coastal forest, the tranquility of the lodge provides the perfect setting to reconnect with nature. For those seeking more activity, snorkeling, bird watching, and nature walks are available, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area.
Continue your journey to Ghost Mountain Inn, nestled at the foot of the legendary Ghost Mountain in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The inn is set in the heart of Mkuze, an area known for its dramatic landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. Enjoy a relaxing day of leisure. Unwind and take in the stunning views and savour the tranquil atmosphere.
Embark on your safari adventure in Manyoni Private Game Reserve and immerse yourself in a  game drive experience, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot the Big Five and other remarkable wildlife.
Savor your morning game drive in Manyoni Private Game Reserve before heading to Durban, where you’ll check in at Sandals Guesthouse for a relaxing stay. Unwind with ocean views and enjoy the laid-back coastal vibe of the city, with plenty of time to explore its vibrant beachfront and culinary delights.
Following breakfast, you’ll be transferred to King Shaka International Airport in time for your departure flight. We look forward to having you join us on another African adventure in the near future!
