You might think that you would hardly spend any time in your hotel once you are on the tropical island of Mozambique, but if it is Casa Rex in Vilanculous you might change your mind.
This lodge is located in the small coastal town of Vilanculous and boasts African, Portuguese and Arab influences throughout the entire town.
All of the rooms at Casa Rex have magnificent sea views overlooking the Indian Ocean and the Bazaruto Archipelego Islands. The suites all offer air-conditioning (which is a welcome relief as Mozambique can become very hot), wireless internet, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms and little details that make this lodge unbelievable… some rooms even have a Jacuzzi – perfect for newly-weds and romantic weekends away or for anyone wanting to treat themselves!
Imagine looking out of your window and seeing swaying dhows on the turquoise sea, locals catching crab, white beaches – what more could you possibly need to help you unwind?
The hotel offers 2 swimming pools (not need to mention the stunning sea view again!), and guests are able to enjoy some privacy. A few steps down from the hotel you will find yourself on the beach! All meals are served on the outside terrace – with a menu including fresh seafood specialities and traditional Portuguese dishes. I enjoyed the peixe do dia grelhado (grilled fish of the day), and a delicious barracuda.
As you can imagine, I didn’t want to leave (ever!)
