With over 25 years of international experience as a Chartered Accountant, Alastair has found the travel industry to be his most rewarding field. His passion for nature conservation was ignited by a significant volunteer project in Zambia, which has shaped his career path. For the past six years as CFO at JENMAN African Safaris, Alastair has utilized his financial expertise to drive the company’s success and overcome challenges. His genuine enjoyment of the travel industry and his vital role in managing the company’s finances make him an essential member of the JENMAN African Safaris team.
Before Alastair’s career in accounting, he studied nature conservation. Always passionate about the outdoors and African wildlife, he chose to do volunteer work after graduating. Alastair went to Zambia to work on a project in the North Kafue region, which was a life-changing experience with a lasting impact on him.
Alastair especially loves traveling with his family and exploring new destinations in his home country, South Africa, as well as neighboring Southern African countries. Recently, they were amazed by a trip to Victoria Falls and a visit to Hideaways Nantwich Lodge in Zimbabwe, where they saw a herd of over 1,000 buffalo, lions on a walking safari, and a rare number of sable. They also spotted an incredible array of birds, including the Marshall eagle, which was particularly special for his wife, who loves birding.
For the past six years, Alastair has been with JENMAN African Safaris. Despite many challenges, including the global pandemic, travel has bounced back, and Jenman is stronger than ever. Alastair enjoys the challenges of his role and works with a terrific team of people, committed to travel and supporting reservations consultants in creating tours that provide clients with lifelong memories.
