Only 25km from the coastal town of Toliara, it’s the perfect add on to your Madagascan adventure. Crystal clear waters for snorkelling, the aquamarine lagoon calls for exploration on a boat ride, and during the months of July and August – whale watching. Adjacent to Ifaty is the Reniala Reserve, meaning ‘Mother of the Forest’, a nickname for the interesting baobab tree forest in the area.

Ifaty is a great location for whale watching, especially from July to September. In addition to whales, the waters off Ifaty are home to various species of dolphins. Boat excursions are available for dolphin watching, providing a chance to see these playful marine mammals in their natural habitat.

Reniala Private Reserve

This reserve is home to the spiny forest, a unique ecosystem characterized by peculiar flora, including the iconic baobab trees and various species of lemurs, chameleons, and birds. Visitors can take guided tours to explore the diverse plant and animal life.
