Leading the way at JENMAN African Safaris is Johann, our visionary General Manager. With over two decades of experience in the tourism industry, Johann has cultivated a deep-rooted passion for travel in Southern Africa and for creating exceptional safaris that exceed our clients’ expectations in Southern Africa, East Africa, and Madagascar.
Over the last 20+ years since completing his tertiary education in tourism, Johann has held numerous roles within the field, including Travel Consultant, Production Controller, Tour Designer, Team Leader, Market Manager, and Operations Manager. In 2014, he started at JENMAN African Safaris as Product Manager and became Head of the Product and Marketing Department in 2017. Less than three years later, he was promoted to General Manager of the company.
Tourism is multi-faceted and dynamic, and his work in this industry has always played to his strengths and interests. Johann is a problem-solver at heart and enjoys multi-tasking and working under pressure. While he loves to travel for leisure with his family, Johann especially holds a fascination with destinations across Southern Africa: “the beauty and uniqueness of my home country and surrounding areas never cease to amaze me.”
Johann’s favorite holidays involve sporting destinations along the ocean and the wine route in the Western Cape, as he grew up in Robertson, a small town outside of Cape Town. He also enjoys the wildlife in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Most of all, he loves all beach destinations, especially Madagascar, which is very different from all other places where he has traveled. Île Sainte-Marie is unmatched for its ocean swimming and snorkeling, along with its unique culture and absolute remoteness.
