Romance in Namibia

When it comes to romance in Africa, Namibia has built a reputation for itself as a country of vast and incredible beauty, making it the perfect choice for a loved-up escape. If you have your heart set on a romantic getaway, then we’ve compiled a list of some of the amazing things you can do while on a trip to Namibia that are guaranteed to give you romantic memories that will last a lifetime!

Sleep in the lap of luxury

Most notably, no romantic escape would be complete without the perfect place to stay. Radiating romance, the Mokuti Etosha Lodge is set within a private nature reserve, just four minutes away from the famous Etosha National Park. The Lodge’s name, Mokuti, means “in the forest”, which is exactly what you’ll find when you visit. If you’re after something very special, then the Lodge’s eight luxury rooms are all you could hope for. And when you are on a game drive or relaxing beside the pool, there is a spa that will certainly serve to de-stress you and your loved one as you make the most of your African escape.

Or sleep beneath the stars

If you really want to immerse yourself into the romance of the African wilderness, then the Okonjima Bush Camp is truly something special. Set at the edge of a wilderness area, the Camp features private chalets that are well-equipped and feature a unique design with a thatched roof. As you settle into the queen size bed for a good night’s rest, you’ll be able to survey the open bushveld from your bed. For something truly spectacular, we recommend the luxury suite, which has a fire-place, bath and outside ‘bush-shower”.

Dine on something truly delicious

There are a number of sensational restaurants in which you can treat your sweetheart to a romantic meal. The Stellenbosch Wine Bar and Bistro has been touted as the best pizza place in Namibia, which can be enjoyed while sipping on a wide variety of wines from all over. Another option is Gathermann, which offers great food with good service. It’s recommended when dining here that you try to get a corner table on the balcony so that you can enjoy a spot of people watching while you dine. And for something authentically African, we recommend Joe’s Beer House Restaurant. While dining on Croc, Zebra, Kudu, Oryx and Springbok may not automatically make things romantic, it will certainly guarantee that you have a meal worth remembering, which is sometimes all that you need.

Get wild in the wilderness

No romantic getaway to Namibia would be complete without a game drive. Knowledgeable guides will be able to track wildlife so that you and your loved one can witness the real beauty of the African wilderness. If you’re not afraid of getting up early, then a sunrise will add the perfect finishing touch to a morning game drive. And if you’re more of a sunset couple, then sundowners enjoyed against the backdrop of the African wild soundscape, will prove a truly incredible experience to share with your loved one.
