Anjajavy Lodge is a beautiful place on the northwest coast of Madagascar. It’s right on a beach with clear blue water and surrounded by a nature reserve. There are twenty-four air-conditioned villas that open onto a terrace overlooking the sea. The main complex comprises a bar/restaurant with an exterior and an interior dining room, a swimming pool, five kilometers of beach, and a 450-hectare nature reserve.
Spot lemurs include the Coquerel’s Sifaka, common brown lemurs, and mouse lemurs. There are wonderful birds – flocks of bright green grey-headed lovebirds, sickle-billed vangas, crested couas, and vasa parrots, to name just a few. Reptiles are common including ground boas and hog-nosed snakes, and plenty of chameleons. Extensive cave systems, tsingy-like limestone outcrops, mangrove forests, beaches, and coral reefs provide diverse ecosystems to explore.
There is a marina for water sports, including water skiing, snorkeling, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, and excellent fishing. You can also join boat excursions to the surrounding grottoes, take a trip up the estuary to see the mangroves, visit the “tsingy,” go on guided four-wheel drive adventures through the nature reserve, or explore the reserve on foot with mountain bikes to discover the area’s flora and fauna.
