Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
The mighty Zambezi River plummets over the cliffs at Victoria Falls to create one of the most spectacular sheets of falling water in the world. After the rainy season, the spray generated from the falls can be seen from over 5km away, and the loud crashing of the water has earned this natural wonder the nickname, “the smoke that thunders”. This geographical wonder is a bucket-list destination on your Zimbabwe safari.

Kazuma Forest Reserve, Botswana
Nestled within one of the world’s busiest elephant corridors, Kazuma Forest Reserve lies between two of Africa’s greatest wild parks: Chobe National Park and Hwange National Park. Woodlands, forests, open plains and pans make up the very diverse habitat that a variety of wildlife call home, including lion, leopard, wildebeest, the rare sable, giraffe, buffalo and more. The elephant sightings in Kazuma Forest reserve are phenomenal and a highlight of this leg on your Botswana safari.

Chobe River Houseboat Safari
Experience a unique safari on the Chobe River, offering a completely different perspective on wildlife viewing. From the water, watch elephants drink at the river’s edge, observe hippos in the channels, and enjoy uninterrupted sightings without vehicle traffic. Guided excursions in smaller boats provide closer access to quieter waterways.

Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe’s largest and oldest national park, Hwange National Park is an excellent destination for those wishing to encounter the Big Five on safari. Every year without fail this gem has treated visitors to truly magical game viewing in the heart of the Zimbabwe bush. Hwange is famous for its massive elephant herds, second only to Chobe in Botswana. With no permanent water in Hwange, over 60 artificial water points have been installed over the years, supporting the numbers of elephant and other game significantly. Enjoy game drives, guided walks and more while on safari in Hwange.

Pre-Tour Information

Departure

The journey from Victoria Falls. Whilst it is our every intention to adhere to the above-mentioned itinerary, there may on occasion be a necessity to make alterations in order to make the tour more enjoyable or practical. Therefore, please treat the itinerary as a guide only.

Transport

You will be picked up at Victoria Falls International Airport. For transfers between Victoria Falls and Hwange (or vice versa), 2×4 vehicles may be utilised. All luggage, besides hand luggage and photo equipment, is carried on the vehicle or trailer roof racks to ensure maximum comfort in the vehicle. Some game drives may be conducted in open-sided safari vehicles. Please reconfirm flight details at the time of booking. Airport transfers are usually conducted in sedan vehicles or minibuses. The game drives take place in open 4×4 vehicles.

Meals

Meals included in the journey will be taken in the restaurants at the various accommodation establishments. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.

Visas

The onus is on the client to organize all visas for Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Travel Insurance

Please note that travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory for every guest travelling with JENMAN African Safaris. All insurance is solely the responsibility of our guests. Please ensure you arrange your own insurance with protection for the full duration of your journey to cover personal injury, damage and loss of personal items including but not limited to camera equipment and other electronic items, medical expenses, repatriation expenses and loss of luggage, etc. Please speak to your travel agent if you require assistance.

Add-On Safari

Book the optional helicopter flight “Flight of Angels” on the second day of your safari and enjoy a scenic flight over Victoria Falls, or choose to add an additional cruise on the Chobe River.

Upon arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. After check-in, relax and take in your first impressions of this remarkable destination.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a relaxed sunset cruise. As the boat glides gently along the water, take in the atmosphere, spot wildlife along the banks, and end the day with a drink.

After breakfast, a road transfer takes you across the border to Kasane in Botswana, where you board your luxury houseboat on the Chobe River. A freshly prepared lunch is served on arrival as you begin to settle into life on the water.

Over the next two days, the houseboat drifts gently along the river, setting the pace for a relaxed and immersive safari experience. Daily excursions in smaller boats take you into the channels of the Chobe River, offering close-up encounters with wildlife along the banks, including elephants, hippos, and a rich variety of birdlife.

Between activities, there is ample time to unwind on board, take in the passing scenery, and enjoy the quiet rhythm of the river as the landscape unfolds around you.

After breakfast, you disembark the houseboat and continue to Hideaways Camp Kuzuma in the Greater Chobe region. Set on a private concession, the camp offers a quiet and remote setting, ideal for immersive nature experiences. On arrival, there is time to settle in and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere before heading out on your first afternoon game drive, ending the day with a sundowner in the bush.

The following day is spent exploring the concession on game drives in open safari vehicles. This less-travelled area offers a more exclusive safari experience, with excellent opportunities to encounter elephants, buffalo, antelope and, with a bit of luck, predators. Between activities, there is time to unwind at camp and take in the surrounding wilderness.

Today, you continue to the northern part of Hwange National Park to Hideaways Nantwich Lodge, set on a private concession in a quieter area of the park. The journey itself offers a sense of the landscape’s vastness, with opportunities for wildlife sightings along the way.

Upon arrival, there is time to relax and take in the views over the surrounding bush before heading out in the afternoon, either on a game drive or simply enjoying a sunset from the lodge in a more relaxed setting.

The following day is dedicated to exploring this remote region on game drives in open safari vehicles, where large elephant herds, buffalo, giraffes, and a variety of antelope are commonly seen, along with predators if luck is on your side. From Nantwich, there is also the opportunity to experience Hwange on foot, with guided walking safaris offering a more immersive way to engage with the landscape and its smaller details.

After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Victoria Falls or to the airport in time for your onward flight.

This marks the end of your journey through some of Southern Africa’s most remarkable regions—from the iconic waterfalls to the wildlife-rich landscapes of Chobe and the vast wilderness of Hwange.
