Madagascar Island Safaris

Experience the trip of a lifetime on Madagascar island safaris as the country is abundantly rich in unique wildlife and vegetation, with 90 % of the wildlife found nowhere else on earth. These include 50 different lemurs, including the Indri, the biggest living lemur, that can be observed in the Andasibe National Park. There are countless other wilderness wonderlands waiting to be explored on your Madagascar island safari.

Make sure to include the picture-perfect natural phenomenon of the Avenue of Baobabs in your itinerary to Madagascar, as well as the great variety of geckos and chameleons in the lush surroundings of Masoala National Park, the incredible hiking opportunities in the cliffs and canyons of Isalo National Park and the breathtaking waterfalls and volcanic lakes in Montagne D’ambre National Park.

Tsingy de Bemaraha Nature Reserve

Tsingy de Bemaraha is a nature reserve situated 70 km inland from the west coast. The reserve is a landscape of towers, rifts and canyons forming limestone cathedrals. This is an area for hiking. In the local language, ‘Tsingy’ means ‘walking on tiptoes’, the feeling one has of navigating the jagged formations below your feet.

Ranomafana National Park

Ranomafana National Park was set up in 1991 to protect two species of rare lemur – the golden bamboo lemur and the greater bamboo lemur. Today it is one of Madagascar’s most popular parks with a healthy forest, teeming with a huge selection of wildlife. This magical cloud forest is fresh and cool with rolling hills, waterfalls and dark-green vegetation.

Masoala National Park

Masoala is home to several habitats: rainforest, flooded forest marsh, mangroves, and coral reefs. It is where rainforest and sea collide, resulting in a unique and varied ecosystem. It is a sanctuary to the show-stopping red ruffed lemur, the Madagascar day gecko, the leaf-tailed gecko, and a host of chameleons. The red owl, the tomato frog, and the spectacular helmet vanga bird also give their presence.

Nosy Mangabe Special Reserve

Nosy Mangabe Special Reserve is an island that lies 2km off the coast, waiting to be explored. The island is inhabited by the world’s largest nocturnal primate; the arboreal and unusual aye-aye lemur. A secluded area of rare species, other residents include the well-camouflaged Uroplatus lizard, and the world’s tiniest chameleon Brookesia, as well as the black and white ruffed lemur and the white-fronted brown lemur. Plan your vacation to coincide with the annual visit of the Humpback whales between July and September.
