Cape Town, South Africa

Resting at the confluence of the Indian and Atlantic Ocean, sandwiched between the slopes of the iconic Table Mountain and the glistening sapphire waters of Table Bay, the exceptionally scenic city of Cape Town is in a class of its own. With its bustling harbor, world-class beaches, top-notch vineyards, and its mountainous surroundings brimming with diverse flora and fauna, Cape Town consistently captivates the hearts of all who visit.

Paarl, Cape Winelands

Situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Paarl boasts an array of cultural and historical attractions and is surrounded by some spectacular nature reserves. Paarl was named after the huge granite dome of rock, which overlooks the town founded in 1690. The famous 11-kilometre-long Main Street features the Strooidak Church, Die Oude Pastorie Museum and the Patriot Building. The beautiful homestead of Labories in Main Street was bought by KWV. The KWV cellar complex is the largest in the world, covering an area of 22 hectares. The magnificent Cathedral Cellar, with its barrel-vaulted roof and large carved red wine vats is spectacular and depicts the history of the Cape’s wine industry. Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of activities including: wine tasting, scenic fynbos hikes, cycling, sampling local cuisine and much more.

Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands

A blend of historical architecture, student life, epicurean delights and oak-lined avenues, Stellenbosch is a picturesque university town surrounded by mountains and vineyards. A walking tour of the town centre allows visitors to take in its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture, as well as the many enticing art galleries, craft shops, clothing boutiques and gift stores, while foodies may prefer indulging in mouth-watering cuisine and fine wines at one of the chic restaurants or buzzing bistros. Stellenbosch is also the ideal base from which to explore the renowned local wine route, boasting a high proportion of the country’s leading wine estates.

Day 3

The Retreat at Waterfall Valley (or similar)
Paarl, Cape Winelands

The Retreat at Waterfall Valley (formerly Cascade Country Manor) has luxuriously appointed rooms. Each with beautiful views of the olive orchards, vineyards and the surrounding mountains. The waterfall is a mere 300 meters walk from the manor house. On the terrace we serve light meals, coffees and cake and for dinner a three course set menu awaits you.

Days 4 & 5

Oude Werf Hotel (or similar)
Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands

The heritage-listed Oude Werf Hotel has been beautifully renovated to fuse its Cape Dutch architectural style with a modern twist. Ideally located in the centre of Stellenbosch.

Pre-Tour Information

Transport

You will be picked up at Cape Town International Airport for transfers between Cape Town Airport and your hotel (or vice versa), 2×4 vehicles may be utilized. All luggage, besides hand luggage and photo equipment, is carried on the vehicle or trailer roof racks to ensure maximum comfort in the vehicle. Some game drives may be conducted in open-sided safari vehicles.

Visas

The onus is on the client to organize all visas required to visit the countries stated on the itinerary.

Travel Insurance

Please note that travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory for every guest travelling with JENMAN African Safaris. All insurance is solely the responsibility of our guests. Please ensure you arrange your own insurance with protection for the full duration of your journey to cover personal injury, damage and loss of personal items including but not limited to camera equipment and other electronic items, medical expenses, repatriation expenses and loss of luggage, etc. Please speak to your travel agent if you require assistance.

Tucked between mountains, forest and sea, Grootbos Nature Reserve is an exclusive area that boasts some of South Africa’s richest biodiversity and most dramatic landscapes. And with such a diverse area, Grootbos has a variety of activities and experiences on offer – encounter magnificent Southern Right Whales either from the coast or the ocean itself, stand at Africa’s southernmost tip, or even take a unique tour exploring the secret life of a beehive and taste delicious honey-inspired treats.

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will spend the next two nights. Your journey continues to Cape Point, followed by a visit to the charming Jackass penguin colony at Boulders Beach . Delight in a relaxing lunch break in Simon’s Town as part of your exploration.
Following a delightful breakfast, you’ll be chauffeured in your private vehicle for the day, heading towards the charming town of Paarl, famous for its vibrant wine industry. Today you will check out of your hotel  and be chauffeured in your own private vehicle to Vrede en Lust Wine Estate for an tranquil horse riding experience. Nestled in the idyllic foothills of the Simonsberg, within the renowned Franschhoek wine valley in South Africa, this estate offers a truly unique way to explore the picturesque surroundings. Upon arrival at 10.30 am, you’ll receive a warm welcome and a 30-minute briefing, ensuring you are well-prepared for your 1.5-hour horse riding adventure. As you saddle up, get ready to immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the area, where you can leisurely admire the breathtaking views of majestic mountains and sprawling valleys. After the invigorating ride, you’ll journey to the town of Stellenbosch,  where you’ll spend the next two nights. Stellenbosch, known as the “City of Oaks,” is a charming and historic town situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Its oak-lined streets, Cape Dutch architecture, and vibrant cultural scene make it a favorite destination for travelers seeking a blend of rich history and modern-day allure. With an array of boutique shops, art galleries, and cozy cafes, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to soak in the local culture and charm. The rest of the day is at your leisure, allowing you to explore the town at your own pace.
Today you will embark on a delectable Cape Classic Cuisine Walk with a Stellenbosch specialist guide, strolling through the old town center to learn about its fascinating history and culture. Explore the oldest restored pioneer town house at the Village Museum before delighting your taste buds at various independent eateries. Sample home-grown teas and Cape sweet treats, savor favorite bites with regional wines, and try traditional cured beef from a family-run butchery. Finally, indulge in a Cape heritage lunch platter, a feast of local delicacies showcasing the town’s culinary prowess and cultural heritage.
