Pack For A Purpose Success

We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, a global initiative that provides guidelines for travellers who would like to make a positive contribution on their trip. Our clients receive a Pack for a Purpose list before they leave on their holiday which explains what needed items they can bring for Dingani Primary School in their luggage. Many of our clients have seized this opportunity and ran with it, really going above and beyond to supply the schoolchildren with their desperately needed supplies.

In the past few months, we have received almost 60kg worth of goods for the students.

Some clients even went the extra mile by sewing colourful pencil bags for the children. One client from Mansfield, England enlisted the help of her local folk club and received incredible support – she hardly had room in her suitcase for her own possessions! In another case clients who were on a trip that stopped in Victoria Falls, used their own free time on the tour to purchase supplies for the students.

We are increasingly impressed with and grateful for the support we are receiving for this initiative.

But of course, the most grateful of all are the teachers and students of Dingani Primary School in Dete, Zimbabwe. On a recent trip up to the area, our marketing specialist Pierce Synnot handed over the last few months’ supplies and the children welcomed him with dancing and singing.

They all posed proudly for pictures with their new supplies, some of which included sturdy but still colourful and fun backpacks. While essential items like pencils and calculators are so vital to the children’s education, it’s also great to make learning fun and stimulating with colourful items featuring animals and cartoon characters. We may take these kind of things for granted but for the children of Dingani it’s a real luxury.  The school has over 300 pupils from the ages of 4 to 12 years old and is in dire need of equipment and maintenance in order to continue the education and development of their pupils.

The clients who give so generously through Pack for a Purpose are making an incredibly valuable difference in the lives of these children, improving and stimulating their education and assisting with providing a better future. JENMAN African Safaris is extremely appreciative of our clients’ contributions and would like to encourage them to keep doing so.

Have a look at the list on Pack for Purpose and choose from the goods that can fit in a travel bag! These items are sorely needed by the school and when clients travel with JENMAN, they are supporting Dingani Primary’s education.
