Due to recent events like the shooting of Zimbabwe’s most famous lion Cecil, JENMAN African Safaris as one of the leading safari operators in Southern Africa, feels obliged to speak out and support lion conservation.
In the past 40 years, the lion population dropped by 80-90% due to various reasons like snares and diseases but most importantly poaching and legal hunting.
Garth Jenman, Managing Director of Jenman African Safaris, and originally from Zimbabwe himself, is appalled by the illegal and legal hunting of lions and highly condemns the increasing number of recent killings.
‘It is still incomprehensible to me that people cannot value the beauty and wealth of African wildlife enough so they would try everything to conserve it – instead of a moment of excitement for your very own personal account’ he says. Not only in Zimbabwe, but all across Africa, conservation organisations try to fight lion poaching and hunting. Travel operators like JENMAN, the travel industry as a whole and every individual person who’s passionate about African wildlife should support this struggle in every way they can.
