Tana’s Grand Urban Hotel in Madagascar

There’s a chic, luxury hotel in Madagascar’s capital. Situated in the sprawling capital city affectionately known as Tana the new property is aptly named Grand Hotel Urban. The expertly designed hotel seamlessly combines clean modern lines with classic colonial elements, providing an urban contemporary space rarely found in Antananarivo. With tasteful furnishings, beautiful ironwork and the finest attention to detail, understated luxury and elegance is felt throughout.

The Skybar on the rooftop terrace has a stunning view of the city and is a wonderful place to relax with some cool refreshing drinks or cocktails while taking in a striking Tana sunset. The hotel’s restaurant is fantastic and serves delicious Malagasy specialties, as well as “exotic” European fare such as Paella and tapas, the owners are actually from Spain which explains that element and means they can be trusted to do the cuisine justice. You can also find standard bistro fare such as steak, salads, and burgers.

Staff are incredibly friendly and professional, providing the best service to the hotel’s guests. Every room has free WiFi and the connection is incredibly impressive by Malagasy standards. All rooms have TVs and guests rave about the excellent showers. The rooms are comfortable, clean and serene with a distinctly modern style delicately mixed with a colonial aesthetic. Some of the luxury rooms have gorgeous views over the city and a cozy seating area.

The boutique hotel is located in the city’s financial and business district which is an excellent location for both tourists and businesspeople. There are some lovely bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood and it is an upmarket and safe area, on the outskirts of the upper part of the city – Ambatonakanga / Ambatovinaky. The hotel itself has 24-hour security as well as offering a bodyguard service in the evening. Car hire and airport transfers can also be arranged by the hotel. Guests who like to experience some pampering should enquire about the massages and mani-pedis on offer.

The new elegantly designed hotel certainly provides a breath of fresh air to what’s on offer in Tana and is the perfect place to stay for discerning travellers looking for convenience, luxury, and urban elegance.
